This project investigates the use of artificial metalloenzymes, combining metal-salen complexes with biotechnology, to enhance the depolymerisation of eco-friendly polyesters like poly(lactic acid) and poly(ethylene furanoate). The goal is to develop catalysts that can effectively recycle plastics without generating harmful microplastics. Candidates should have skills in molecular biology and synthetic chemistry.
