Postgraduate Diploma - Social Work (L50P)

专业介绍

The Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work at Middlesex University is both an academic and professional qualification that integrates practice with research. It provides an accelerated pathway into the social work profession for motivated graduates and individuals seeking a career change. The programme is designed to develop capable and effective practitioners who can work across statutory services as well as in private and voluntary sectors throughout the UK.

The course is approved by Social Work England, allowing graduates to become eligible for professional registration upon completion of their qualification. Strong links with local employers and a well-established stakeholder network enhance the learning experience, with contributions from practising social workers and service users forming part of the teaching.

Students gain valuable real-world experience through high-quality placements in both adult and children’s services, including a final 100-day placement involving statutory interventions. The programme also offers an immersive learning environment, combining extended teaching sessions, interactive workshops, and e-learning resources, all delivered by experienced academics from the Department of Mental Health and Social Work, where influential research in social work and mental health is conducted.

The curriculum covers a wide range of social work theories and equips students with the skills to apply them in diverse practice settings. Areas of study include psychosocial perspectives, sociology, psychology, and human development, alongside a strong emphasis on relationship-based practice and systemic approaches. Students also explore relevant legislation and its application in practice. The programme is aligned with Social Work England Professional Standards, the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF), and the Knowledge and Skills Statements (KSS) for both children’s and adults’ services.
