Approximately 150 million individuals worldwide speak Russian, with it being the official language in four countries. Additionally, it is widely understood throughout Eastern Europe and has experienced unprecedented transnational mobility in the past three decades.

This program presents the opportunity to delve into the study of Russian within its cultural framework, while also exploring the mechanics of language.

The combination of Russian Studies and Linguistics creates an exceptional joint honors option, as it allows for the examination of a modern language within its cultural context, as well as the analysis of meaning expression and creation.

Linguistics courses specifically catered to language students encompass topics such as the speech sounds found in various languages worldwide, the variations present in different languages, and the structure and history of languages across the globe.
