The BA (Hons) Economics with Foundation Year provides a comprehensive introduction to economics, combining theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world experience.

The programme is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), aligning the curriculum with the skills sought by employers and offering additional awards and exemptions toward professional body membership. Students develop the ability to apply economic theories to businesses, markets, industries and countries using the latest data and information services, while also enhancing broader business, research and analytical skills.

Practical experience is a key feature of the course, with opportunities to participate in live consultancy projects, create investment portfolios, engage in business panel debates, conduct broadcast interviews, and present economic analysis at conferences.

The Financial Markets Lab provides a simulated trading floor environment to gain hands-on experience, and optional placement years or summer internships further deepen understanding and professional development.
