Civil engineers design, build and operate the physical infrastructure that The University of Edinburgh often take for granted; from bridges and buildings to water treatment and waste management systems.

Civil engineering involves:

• Applying students physics and mathematics knowledge
• Using engineering and computing tools in a creative and sustainable way
• This program will train students to be a civil engineer of the future, giving them the knowledge and skills they need to shape their ever-changing world.

Students will have the opportunity to specialize in many technical streams including:

• structural, environmental and construction management
• geotechnical
• fire safety engineering
