专业介绍

Those fascinated by the intersection of psychology and the criminal justice system will find the Psychology (Forensic and Investigative Specialism) degree provides deep insight into crime, criminality, investigation, and profiling, alongside the British Psychological Society (BPS) core curriculum. With its emphasis on applying psychological principles to real-world cases, the program offers a distinctive perspective on criminal behaviour and the justice system.

The Professional Studies Foundation Year route is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed at university and in a professional or vocational course. It introduces a range of topics relevant to their chosen profession and the environment in which they will eventually work. Key areas of focus include person-centred care, mental health, children’s development, professional communication, social inequality, and the practical application of psychology in real-world settings.

The University of Chester’s Psychology (Forensic and Investigative Specialism) degree, accredited by the BPS, enables students to achieve the Graduate Basis for Chartership. A dedicated team of experienced academics delivers expert guidance and support, while state-of-the-art facilities—such as labs equipped with eye trackers, Dynavision, biopacs, cold pressor equipment, VR technology, and FaceGen software—ensure a hands-on learning environment.

Students have opportunities to undertake specialised project work, learn from guest speakers, and gain practical experience through applied modules. They may also participate in the student-led Psychology society for academic and social activities, and explore study-abroad options to expand their horizons. Graduates are well-prepared for rewarding careers in investigation, rehabilitation, and related fields both within and beyond the criminal justice system.
