The IS1 program is the equivalent of the first year of a four-year Scottish undergraduate degree. This pathway is designed to help students develop their academic knowledge and skills within business and economics. Participants will also focus on improving their English academic literacy in preparation for continuing onto their chosen undergraduate degree at the University of Dundee. Studied across three terms, students will proceed directly to year two of their degree course at the University of Dundee upon completion of the pathway.

International Business and International Relations

The world is increasingly characterized by business operations that are global in scale, where national boundaries hold little significance in decisions regarding where goods are produced and services are provided. In this course, students will learn what this means for today’s business landscape.

The course centers on economics, covering both micro and macroeconomics; however, it is much broader than a standalone economics degree. It analyzes the major external factors affecting global business, globalization, and applied policy.

International Relations involves the processes through which two or more nations collaborate to establish trade links and how they interact politically, culturally, and economically. Conflict, cooperation, and the growing significance of non-state actors are all hallmarks of the contemporary world. The course aims to equip students with the skills and tools needed to navigate these complex interrelationships.

This course helps students turn their academic interests into practical skills. They will draw on two highly-rated disciplines to gain a deeper understanding of global policy, trade, and relations.
