The IS1 program is the equivalent of the first year of a four-year Scottish undergraduate degree. This pathway is designed to help students develop their academic knowledge and skills within business and economics. Participants will also focus on improving their English academic literacy in preparation for continuing onto their chosen undergraduate degree at the University of Dundee. Studied across three terms, students will proceed directly to year two of their degree course at the University of Dundee upon completion of the pathway.

International Business and Environmental Sustainability

The world is increasingly characterized by business operations that are global in scale, where national boundaries hold little significance in decisions about where goods are produced and services are provided.

By studying international business, students will understand how this transformation has occurred and what it means for today’s business landscape.

This degree has economics at its core, encompassing both micro and macroeconomics; however, it is much broader than a standalone economics degree. It analyzes the major external factors affecting global business, globalization, and applied policy.

Understanding the environment has never been more critical. The modern world consumes a significant amount of energy, generates waste and pollution, degrades the environment, reduces biodiversity, and impacts health and welfare.

Environmental sustainability examines the interaction between people and their surroundings, teaching students about the use of natural resources and how to attain more sustainable lifestyles.

This knowledge can help students:

• Tackle pollution
• Ensure that new developments enhance rather than detract from their surroundings
• Provide communities with opportunities to have a real say in how they use their natural resources.
