2.5-Term Pathway - Foundation Certificate for Science and Engineering - Transfer to Integrated Masters - Master of Physics (MPhys) (Honours) - Theoretical Physics With a Year Abroad

专业介绍

Program Description

For students who've finished high school but don’t meet the entry requirements for university, a Foundation Certificate can help them gain entry to an undergraduate degree. After completing this pathway option students qualify for progression to the 1st year of an undergraduate degree at the University of York.

A student’s course length is determined mainly by their English language level (UKVI IELTS score). Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. Students taking a course longer than 2 terms, will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.

Master of Physics (Honours) - Theoretical Physics With a Year Abroad

Theoretical physics provides the tools for constructing the mathematical framework of the physical world.

On a foundation of advanced physics, students will build their understanding of theoretical techniques. They'll use mathematical analysis and an array of computational methods to address complex problems. Students will learn key skills of analysis and research, write scientific reports to industry standards, and simulate huge physical systems using supercomputers.

Work with world-renowned physicists using sophisticated equipment to probe the nature of existence and push the boundaries of research. Students will learn to utilise supercomputers like York's own Viking cluster, developing parallel code to model complex physical systems.

Gain unique global experiences spending a year at one of York's partner universities. Students can boost their confidence by immersing themselves in a different culture and gain valuable language skills for their CV.
