专业介绍
Chiropractic is a career focused on supporting patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Students on this course learn how practitioners assess, diagnose and use approaches such as manual therapy, exercise and education to help manage pain, improve function and support patients in working towards meaningful goals.
The course prepares students to become chiropractors who build strong therapeutic relationships and deliver impactful, evidence-led care. It is designed to support them in meeting the requirements for registration with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), subject to successful completion of the programme and meeting GCC criteria, which is required to practise legally as a chiropractor in the UK.
Students study a future-focused curriculum, developing the knowledge and skills needed to work in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. They are supported in building strengths in communication, critical thinking, teamwork and leadership, preparing them to collaborate across professions and explore career pathways in clinical practice, business, research or education.
Key course highlights include developing strong communication skills, understanding what matters to each patient and delivering inclusive, individualised care. Students build solid foundations in human sciences alongside hands-on skills in chiropractic assessment, diagnosis and treatment. They also develop as reflective, ethical professionals who can evaluate innovations, address global healthcare challenges and use research to improve care.
The course offers a recognised route to professional registration, being recognised by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). Successful completion allows graduates to apply for registration with the GCC (subject to meeting its criteria), which is required to practise legally as a chiropractor in the UK.
The programme uses a one-module-at-a-time structure, where students study 30-credit modules in six-week blocks, focusing on one subject at a time. This structured approach supports progressive learning, with regular assessment and feedback to help track development.
Students gain immersive clinical learning and placement experience, with access to purpose-built clinical and simulation facilities. From the first year, they engage in practical teaching and placements, culminating in a 12-month on-site clinical placement in a fully equipped chiropractic clinic.
The course also emphasises critical thinking for clinical practice. Students develop digital skills and research literacy, learn to scrutinise and challenge evidence, conduct their own research study and apply critically appraised evidence throughout their practice.
Finally, the course takes an outward-looking, future-facing approach, exploring current developments, challenges and approaches in healthcare from a global perspective. Students are supported in understanding their role as future chiropractors within healthcare systems and how they can contribute to patient care and professional practice.
