The Mechanical Engineering at LSBU is all about turning top-class learning (we consistently score highly in university rankings) into practical skills students can use in the real world. With this degree programme, they will build a solid grounding in core principles and concepts, while also getting the space to test their own ideas, make things, break things and use data to innovate. This will position them to work in almost any sector where ethical problem solvers are needed: from energy and transportation to robotics and pharmaceuticals. If they are the kind of person who can see the solutions others can’t, then this is the place for them.

They will develop new techniques and tools with a highly practical course curriculum and learning to use state-of-the-art equipment such as our virtual engineering lab and 3-D printing software. From CNC machines and waterjet cutters to wind turbines, solar rigs and VR labs, our expansive workshops are packed with facilities that put them at the heart of real engineering. They will also get lots of experience on software used in industry, such as Adobe Creative Suite, ANSYS, Autodesk, Catalyst, Denford, MATLAB, and Simapro. These are available on campus, as well as remotely via AppsAnywhere.
