This accredited course provides individuals with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to become work-ready medical engineers. Students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of authentic engineering problems and industry-focused scenarios, both individually and in collaboration with student engineers from other disciplines. The group work aspect of the course aims to mirror the dynamics of an engineering team, fostering the development of professional skills such as teamwork and communication. The course also offers access to an open access makerspace, which serves as a platform for design, creation, and collaboration.

Students will have the chance to engage with professionals from healthcare providers such as the Cardiff and Vale Orthopedic Centre, as well as benefit from connections with companies like Biomet, Simple ware, and Arthritis Research UK.

Moreover, students will be given the opportunity to complete a salaried placement in a location of their choice, even outside of the UK. This placement serves as an invaluable experience to immerse oneself in a professional working environment and apply the acquired skills. Past students have successfully completed placements in renowned organizations such as P&G, Johnson & Johnson, and the NHS.

The MEng degree program provides an avenue for individuals to expand and enhance their knowledge in the field of medical engineering. Students will benefit from advanced learning in design and management, as well as engage in multidisciplinary engineering design projects.
