The International Stage One is equivalent to the first year of a four-year Scottish undergraduate degree. The program is designed to help students develop their academic knowledge and skills within their subject area. Students will also focus on improving their English academic literacy in preparation for continuing onto their chosen University of Dundee undergraduate degree. Studied across three terms, students will continue straight onto Year two of the degree course at the University once they have successfully completed the International Stage One.

History and psychology studies offer a wide range of modules to choose from.

Social, cultural, and political history from the early modern period through to the present day is taught, with a focus on the British Isles, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and India.

Primary sources are used from the beginning of studies, and various historical evidence is analyzed, including written and oral materials, maps, visual images, feature films, art, and music.

The use of sources and media representations inform reconstructions of the past. Key debates in history are critically reflected upon, examining how they have developed over time and shaped understanding of the world. Historians’ roles in today’s public life, media, and the heritage industry are also evaluated.
