Integrated Masters - Master of Mathematics (G112) (Sandwich Year)

专业介绍

The MMath with a Professional Placement Year is considered an excellent choice for individuals seeking a deeper understanding of mathematics and the chance to gain practical experience in a paid role as a mathematician or statistician. This particular course builds upon the BSc program and aims to prepare students for high-level entry into relevant professions, while also serving as a solid foundation for those interested in pursuing a research career.

This course is essentially identical to the four-year BSc with a Professional Placement Year, but includes an additional fifth year of study. During this fifth year, students will undertake a significant project, such as conducting a survey on an area of mathematical theory not covered in taught modules, embarking on an introductory research project, or developing mathematical software. This project allows students to explore a research topic of their choice while simultaneously developing crucial professional skills that are highly sought after by graduate employers. The course extensively covers various topics, including Mathematical Analysis, Mathematical Physics, and Fluid Dynamics, in order to demonstrate that students are at the forefront of the discipline.

In today's competitive graduate job market, participating in a placement can provide individuals with valuable skills and experience that set them apart from their peers. It can potentially lead to securing a permanent role after graduation and offers real-world context to support academic studies. For those who are unsure about their future career path, the placement provides an excellent opportunity to explore different options and make informed decisions about their future.
