The International Stage One is equivalent to the first year of a four-year Scottish undergraduate degree. This program is designed to help students develop their academic knowledge and skills within their subject area. Students will also focus on improving their English academic literacy in preparation for continuing onto their chosen University of Dundee undergraduate degree. Studied across three terms, students will continue straight onto Year two of the degree course at the University once they have successfully completed the International Stage One.

Business Economics focuses on economic concepts, theories, and principles. Students will learn how these are applied to various business activities inside businesses or organizations and across the wider business world.

A strong understanding of the role of marketing in today’s multi-channel environment and how marketing fits into a wider organizational context will be developed.

In order to become an effective marketer, and be able to allocate resources and tap into growth opportunities, students need to understand all economic factors relating to target markets, particularly around emerging markets.

There are strong links between Psychology and business, in particular marketing. For example, developing a stronger understanding of the psychological behavior of the consumer.

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. Topics covered include how babies learn, the way in which people’s mental skills change as they grow older, various personalities, and how social group dynamics work. Students will also study different psychological disorders.

In addition to exploring these aspects of human nature, students will learn how to think critically and to solve problems. They will be taught to analyze data, write clearly and effectively, and be confident communicators of science. Students will learn how to plan, implement and analyze their own research project.
