2-Semester Pathway - International Year One in Computer Science and Cyber Security - Continue to Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Computer Science

专业介绍

Computer science and cyber security sit at the heart of today’s digital world, shaping how people live, work, and protect the systems they rely on every day. At Cardiff University, students explore the technologies, threats, and innovations that underpin modern computing, building the skills needed to thrive in one of the fastest-growing global industries.

As a direct route into the second year of an undergraduate degree, the International Year One in Computer Science and Cyber Security combines first-year university modules with targeted academic skills development. Students build essential foundations in computing and cyber security while gaining the confidence to succeed at degree level, with guaranteed progression to Year Two upon successful completion of the programme. They benefit from both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience, supported by a Russell Group education and Cardiff’s world-class reputation in cyber security.

Cardiff University is officially recognised by the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) as an Academic Centre of Excellence in both Cyber Security Education and Cyber Security Research—placing its students in one of the UK’s leading environments for cyber learning and discovery. Learners study within newly updated computer laboratories, specialised cyber security and forensics spaces, and collaborative areas such as the Turing Suite, with a curriculum aligned to industry needs and GCHQ recommendations. Real-world projects and case-based investigations using genuine datasets ensure that their learning remains practical, applied, and relevant to emerging threats and technologies.

Upon graduation, students are equipped for some of the most in-demand careers in computing and cyber security, including roles such as Cyber Security Analyst, Penetration Tester, Security Engineer, Software Developer, Data Analyst, and Cloud Security Specialist. With strong international demand for graduates skilled in software development, data analysis, and cyber defence, Cardiff University provides an excellent springboard into a future-proof career.
