The International Foundation Year in Health and Life Sciences provides international students with a structured pathway towards the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree. The programme is designed to develop foundational knowledge in health and life sciences while preparing students for undergraduate study in sport and exercise science. Students develop essential academic skills, including research, academic writing, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and independent learning. The programme also introduces students to the UK higher education environment, including university teaching, learning and assessment methods. Through structured academic support, students can build confidence and develop the skills needed for progression to undergraduate study. Upon successfully completing the foundation stage and meeting the required progression criteria, students can progress to the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree. The degree provides students with opportunities to explore exercise physiology, sports performance, human movement, physical activity and health. Students develop an understanding of how exercise and physical activity influence health, fitness and athletic performance.
