The International Foundation Year in Health and Life Sciences provides international students with a structured pathway towards the BSc (Hons) Sport, Exercise and Health degree. The programme is designed to build foundational knowledge in health and life sciences while preparing students for undergraduate study in sport, exercise and health. Students develop essential academic skills, including research, academic writing, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and independent learning. The programme also introduces students to the UK higher education environment, including university teaching, learning and assessment methods. Through structured academic support, students can build confidence and develop the skills needed for progression to undergraduate study. Upon successfully completing the foundation stage and meeting the required progression criteria, students can progress to the BSc (Hons) Sport, Exercise and Health degree. The degree provides students with opportunities to explore the relationship between physical activity, exercise, fitness and health. Students develop knowledge of exercise physiology, health promotion, physical wellbeing and the role of physical activity in supporting healthy lifestyles.
