Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Mathematics and Computer Science (GG14)

专业介绍

With the BSc Mathematics and Computer Science, students will challenge themselves as they study a wide range of subject areas, developing their critical thinking and independent learning skills. Students will learn how the world of mathematics and computer science work seamlessly together as they combine their passion for both subjects.

Depending on their interests, students can choose to specialise in areas such as statistics, algebra, robotics and machine learning, all key areas which have a huge impact on lives today. Students will leave equipped with highly sought after skills, easily standing out in a highly competitive job market and ready to confidently take on their chosen career.

Whether students decide to delve into the world of statistics, or explore the exciting developments in robotics and AI, this BSc Mathematics and Computer Science programme will help students learn to apply analytical, statistical, computational and programming skills to formulate and tackle problems. The University of Birmingham will support students to think logically, independently and imaginatively, equipping them to make the most of the opportunities ahead.

Mathematicians use computers to solve complex equations, analyse large data sets and even to prove theorems. Computer scientists use mathematics to design efficient compression algorithms, to understand the semantics of programming languages and for the theory behind internet security systems.
