专业介绍

With this BSc Mathematics and Statistics students will learn how to collect, analyse and interpret data whilst developing your knowledge of mathematics.

With increasing amounts of data being collected on almost every aspect of human life and the world around us, statistics is becoming more important. Statistical skills are applicable to a wide range of areas including business, climate science, medicine and the civil service. After the first year students will spend roughly equal amounts of time studying each subject.

In mathematics students will study areas such as calculus, analysis, linear algebra and differential equations. In statistics students will cover subjects such as linear models, statistical computing and probability. During the second year students will also take a skills module, which is designed to improve their transferable skills and enhance their employability.

This program will meet the educational requirements of the Chartered Mathematician designation, awarded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, when it is followed by subsequent training and experience in employment to obtain equivalent competences to those specified by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for taught masters degrees.
