The International Year Zero in Health and Life Sciences provides international students with a structured academic pathway towards the BSc (Hons) Midwifery degree. The programme is designed to strengthen foundational knowledge in health and life sciences while preparing students for undergraduate study in professional midwifery. Students develop essential academic skills, including research, academic writing, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and independent learning. The programme also introduces students to UK higher education teaching, learning and assessment methods. Through structured academic support, students can build confidence and develop the skills needed for progression to professional midwifery education. Upon successfully completing the programme and meeting the required progression criteria, students can progress to the BSc (Hons) Midwifery degree. The undergraduate programme focuses on pregnancy, childbirth, postnatal care, maternal health and newborn wellbeing.
