Program Description

This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the Leeds Beckett University International Study Centre. After completing the pathway, students will progress into a program at Leeds Beckett University. In an international foundation year students will study courses related to their intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance their skills as a student. Advancement into their intended program depends upon successful completion of the pathway program.

This International Foundation Year provides the subject knowledge in sciences and mathematics, as well as the English language skills necessary for success in an undergraduate program at Leeds Beckett University. Once a student completes this course they will be suitable for progression options in areas such as computing, biomedical sciences and civil engineering.

After completing this pathway, students will transition to the BA Politics program. With the 2017 snap general election, Brexit and the Donald Trump US Presidency, politics is as divisive as ever for those involved in the debate. Critically explore politics and examine some of the pressing issues facing us today, such as climate change, human rights, migration and the crisis of capitalism. You also will explore how the role of the state, international power relations, ethics, and political movements and ideologies such as Marxism have profound implications for the organisation of our society. In your second year and third year, you will have a choice of optional modules and a dissertation, which you can tailor to your interests.
