Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

专业介绍

The BSc (Hons) Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Derby equips graduates for a rapidly growing industry with strong career prospects and opportunities for progression. The programme offers flexibility, including the option to transfer to other courses within the Computing portfolio after the first year. It is delivered by academic staff recognised as leading scientists in their field and benefits from strong connections with employers through work placements and industry projects. Teaching takes place in a modern, flexible, and supportive environment with specialist facilities, and all assessment is conducted through coursework.

The degree addresses one of society’s biggest challenges: managing and interpreting large volumes of data. Students develop mathematical foundations in data analysis, practical skills in performing analyses, and the ability to construct AI systems and models. In the second year, students study more specialist modules, with options to tailor learning in the final year to areas of particular interest.

The programme has extensive industry connections, collaborating with local and international companies including Rolls-Royce, JCB, Bentley Motors, Alstom, CERN, Toyota, and Bloc Digital. It is also linked to the East Midlands Institute of Technology (EMIoT), which delivers research-oriented, employer-led learning focused on clean growth and digital innovation. A placement year between the second and third year provides substantial industry experience and insight into potential career paths, enhancing professional development and employability.
