专业介绍

The International Hospitality Management programme at Derby equips students with the knowledge and skills to manage hospitality venues while developing leadership and entrepreneurial capabilities essential for success in the hospitality industry. The curriculum emphasizes the overlap between hospitality, tourism, and events within the broader 'visitor economy,' offering opportunities for collaboration with Events and Tourism students, thereby broadening career prospects. The programme also includes the option to study abroad for a semester in the second year.

Part of the University’s Centre for Contemporary Hospitality and Tourism, which holds the prestigious International Centre of Excellence (ICE) in Tourism and Hospitality accreditation, the course aligns all modules with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, fostering an understanding of the social and environmental impacts of hospitality alongside its economic benefits.

The BA (Hons) International Hospitality Management degree provides the management and operational skills required to succeed in the hospitality industry of the 2020s and beyond. The curriculum has been updated to include content on business management, new technology, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, ensuring graduates become adaptable, creative thinkers capable of challenging the status quo and leading change.

Modules are designed to integrate essential business disciplines such as Finance, Marketing, and HR throughout the course, applied where most relevant. This approach allows students to develop financial knowledge through business planning and HR and leadership skills through organisational transformation projects.

The programme also offers a placement year, providing practical experience in real-world environments. Support is provided to secure placements, enabling students to gain industry experience, build professional networks, and refine career interests, thereby enhancing employability upon graduation.
