The BSc (Hons) Finance and Investment degree is designed to develop practical financial skills and knowledge aligned with the demands of the modern finance and investment sectors. The course focuses on real-world applications, preparing students to stand out in competitive global industries.

Accredited by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI), the programme is aligned with the curricula of professional bodies such as the CFA Institute and CISI UK. It combines technical expertise with the development of key employability skills, supported by initiatives such as the Graduate+ programme.

Students build a strong foundation in finance and investment through core modules, while also developing transferable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and professional communication. As they progress, they gain the ability to analyse financial situations and provide informed advice to individuals and organisations in both UK and international contexts.

The course offers flexibility in later years, allowing students to choose optional modules and tailor their studies towards specific areas of interest and career pathways within finance and investment.

An optional professional placement year is available between the second and third years of study, providing valuable industry experience. Students are responsible for securing their placement, supported by the university’s careers services and employer networks. Those who successfully obtain a placement can transfer to the placement version of the course.
