Whether candidates are designing an app, programming a drone or experimenting with artificial intelligence – the University of Northern Iowa's programs are marked by hands-on experiences designed to put them ahead.

The Computer Science major at the University of Northern Iowa offers a flexible curriculum allowing students to specialize in one or more of the following areas: information science, software engineering, systems and traditional computer science.

The BA in Computer Science is a shorter program of study, making it more suitable for a liberal arts style education. Graduates still study deeply in one area of computer science, but have more time for a minor or second major.

The University of Northern Iowa's Computer Science program will arm students with the skills needed to thrive in a variety of high-demand fields in both the public and private sectors. Common careers include:
