The 2-Semester Pathway - Undergraduate Foundation Programme - Humanities and Social Sciences is a one-year programme offers successful students guaranteed progression to Loughborough University. This programme is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to undergraduate studies at the university.

The International Foundation Programme is set at level 3, which is equivalent to A-level standard in the United Kingdom. The two semester programme lasts one academic year [nine months]. Each semester includes, on average, 13 teaching weeks, one reading week and one assessment week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week. This programme includes English and three academic subject modules. English will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects, as well as being taught separately if they need additional support to develop their English language. They will be assessed at regular intervals throughout the programme to ensure they are making the progress required to successfully complete the programme. Full assessment of the programme will take place in the final semester. Assessment methodologies are aligned to those that will be experienced in the University environment, and include project work, essays, and presentations.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Sociology:

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Sociology teaches students the theories and methods needed to understand how individual identities, behaviours and lives are shaped by the processes and structures that give rise to exclusion and inequity in modern society. During the course they will explore a variety of social phenomena in depth, such as gender, social class and inequalities, race and racism, consumption, health, digital technologies. They will develop a detailed understanding of the social world through learning classical and contemporary social theories and will acquire practical social research methods skills from surveys, interviews and focus groups to visual methods and online ethnography.
