Program Description

Build a future by studying in the UK, with a pathway course at Kaplan International College (KIC) London. Situated in the world’s top academic city (QS Best Student Cities 2019), the College will prepare students for a university degree, and for a successful career.

Study at one of the most respected international colleges in London, and progress to one of 8 universities, including the University of Westminster.

The commercially well-connected University of Westminster is hugely international. Students can study alongside students from nearly 170 countries.

The Spanish and Global Communication BA develops knowledge of the Spanish language and culture, and develops communication skills for the professional global environment.

The course helps students to achieve a good or high level of linguistic proficiency in Spanish in reading, writing, listening and speaking. It also gives students insight into and practice in communicating internationally as well as mediating between English and Spanish speakers.

The curriculum integrates applied language skills and cultural studies, while ensuring a rigorous development of foreign language competence in all areas. Students will improve their ability as an intercultural communicator by studying how ideas are shaped and communicated in a global society, where interactions are no longer confined by national, regional or cultural boundaries.

Studying the Spanish and Global Communication BA, students will acquire qualities and skills in areas such as interpersonal communication and organisational skills, analysis and argument, autonomy and team working, and team management. Students will also build their flexibility, tolerance and organisational skills to enable them to be an effective international communicator. On graduation, students will be able to thrive linguistically in diverse cultural situations.

They will have the option to spend a full academic year abroad at a partner institution, or undertake an approved form of employment in a country where Spanish is the official language, such as Spain or Argentina. Students can work as a paid language assistant in a foreign school or undertake a work or volunteering placement, both of which give students a valuable opportunity to boost employability while improving language competence. Students will have the option to undertake a combination of both study and work.
