Bachelor of Arts - English Literature and Philosophy (VQ53)

专业介绍

As the world's oldest academic discipline, Philosophy has developed an impressive array of concepts and techniques for addressing intricate problems. Our program equips students with the skills to analyze and construct complex chains of reasoning, fostering the development and refinement of critical thinking abilities necessary to tackle the global philosophical puzzles of our time.

In the realm of English literature, our curriculum offers access to a complete chronological span, ranging from the Anglo-Saxon period to the 21st century. We go beyond the confines of printed words, delving into the intriguing connections between literature and other art forms such as film, art, music, history, language, and popular culture. Our teaching reflects this dynamic crossover, allowing students to shape their degree according to their interests. Whether one chooses a traditional path exploring multiple periods and genres or opts for a more dynamic mix that combines literary study with analysis of other cultural forms, our program offers a stimulating and flexible range of modules.

Supported by a friendly atmosphere and excellent staff-student relationships, our program prides itself on providing a challenging academic environment. Our lecturers, experts in their fields, are actively engaged in research and bring the latest thinking to the classroom, including their own cutting-edge research. In addition to the classroom experience, our stimulating events such as Cardiff Book Talk, Cardiff Poetry Experiment, Philosophy Café, and annual Festival of Philosophy provide further opportunities for students to explore contemporary themes and global issues with the wider public.
