The School of Education, Humanities and Languages offers the MA by Research in Education, with staff offering supervision across a range of areas including early years, primary, secondary, further and higher education, as well as informal learning outside institutional contexts. Staff have an excellent track record of supervising doctorates and MAs by Research. The School prides itself on the quality of its research and the support that it gives to its postgraduate students.

The study of Education takes place within the School of Education, Humanities and Languages. It is a vibrant and inclusive research community with strong international links to schools and other educational organisations. The School currently supervises over 70 research students in Education, all of whom have access to a wide range of training and other events.

All of its research students are members of the Faculty’s Doctoral Training Programme and the University’s Graduate College. Students will be encouraged to become involved in the School’s research activities and will have the opportunity to work alongside academics who are at the forefront of a number of world-leading research projects.

The School’s researchers investigate diverse fields across the life course, from the early years to adulthood, adopting a range of disciplinary and methodological approaches. Senior researchers work alongside early career researchers in an environment that encourages collaboration and critical dialogue. Doctoral students are an essential part of this community, and the School welcomes student participation in all research activities and events.
