Program Description

The English Language Preparation program is a chance to improve your English language skills before beginning your pathway program. This program will you develop the required language skills to be successful in your intended pathway and degree program. Depending on your current level of English, you will study between (1 term) & (2 terms) of English.

This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre for the University of Strathclyde followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Strathclyde. In your international foundation year, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.

The Pre-Masters in Engineering and Sciences, you will explore and begin to understand the power of engineering and science in the real world. While you begin to learn the technical aspects of media, you will discover how to push the bounds of creative expression and graduate with the skills to succeed, plus the critical outlook and approach employers want.

This is a conversion course, designed for candidates from a broad background of disciplines. Students will gain skills in:

• problem solving
• big data
• the use of statistical software for data analysis and reporting

On the Applied Statistcs MSc programme you'll have the opportunity to acquire:

• an in-depth knowledge of modern statistical methods used to analyse and visualise real-life data sets, and the experience of how to apply these methods in a professional setting
• skills in using statistical software packages used in government, industry and commerce
• the ability to interpret the output from statistical tests and data analyses, and communicate your findings to a variety of audiences including health professionals, scientists, government officials, managers and stakeholders who may have an interest in the problem
• problem solving and high numeracy skills widely sought after in the commercial sector
• practical experience of statistical consultancy and how to interact with professionals who require statistical analyses of their data
