The Level 6 Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is a two-semester programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Master’s degrees at Loughborough University.

This Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. The PMP will allow them to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master's degree studies. They will study academic modules relating to their chosen progression route. Each semester consists of thirteen teaching weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week. The weekly hours of study varies by semester with them on average studying around 18-21 (and up to 21) hours per week. Each module will have an assessment schedule, which will be completed by the end of the appropriate semester. Assessments will be designed to demonstrate learning across the individual modules of the programme and to allow them to experience a wide range of the assessment methods used in United Kingdom postgraduate programmes. Assessments will include coursework, essays, reports and other structured assignments, oral examination and unseen written examinations.

Master of Science - Financial Mathematics:

The Master of Science - Financial Mathematics programme is designed to provide students with the strong mathematical skills, computational techniques and finance background needed to work in the financial sector. It could also open up careers in investment banking, hedge funds, insurance companies and the finance departments of large corporations. Drawing on the expertise within Department of Mathematical Sciences, they will undertake core specialised modules in stochastic analysis and measure theory, whilst also choosing optional modules covering wide-ranging topics of interest, including corporate finance, functional analysis and asset management. This makes the programme suitable both for those who are interested in an academic pathway (eg progressing to a Philosophy of Doctorate), as well as those seeking to enter the quantitative finance sector.
