The LLM in International Business Law and Sustainability is designed for students interested in international commercial law and the relationship between private law and sustainability.

As global commerce becomes increasingly interconnected, the relationship between law, business, and sustainability has become increasingly important. The programme enables students to explore how international business law can support sustainable commercial practices, social responsibility, and climate-related priorities.

Students develop the legal knowledge and practical skills required for careers both within and beyond the legal sector. They learn to apply legal theory to real-world business and sustainability issues, addressing complex and contemporary challenges within the evolving sustainability debate.

The curriculum combines international business law with sustainability principles, providing students with a broad understanding of how the global legal environment is changing. It considers the ethical, social, political, environmental, and economic factors that influence the development and application of law.

Sustainability is examined as more than an environmental concern. Students explore issues including climate action, social responsibility, employment practices, supply chain management, and responsible corporate conduct. The programme considers how sustainability has become a commercial priority for organisations of all sizes and an increasingly important influence on board-level decision-making and future legislation.

The programme provides a contemporary analysis of legal issues relevant to Wales, the United Kingdom, and the wider international community. It prepares graduates for a range of career paths in law, business and finance, education, and public policy. Students also have opportunities to research, discuss, and write about the influence of sustainability on modern business practices.

Compulsory modules include International Corporate Governance in a Sustainable World and Legal Research Methods. A 60-credit dissertation forms a core part of the LLM and requires students to undertake independent research.

Students also complete 80 credits from optional modules, which may include Business and Human Rights Law, International Climate Change Law and Policy, Global Trade Law, Public International Law, and Contemporary Issues in International Environmental Law.
