The Master of Business Administration with Extended Professional Practice is designed to provide students with a critical understanding of core business and management principles, including people management, marketing, and financial proficiency. The programme supports the development of strategic leadership capabilities and the ability to evaluate organisational positioning, making it suitable for individuals interested in leadership roles or entrepreneurial pathways, regardless of prior experience.

The course delivers a comprehensive and immersive learning experience, combining academic study with practical application. In addition to theoretical knowledge, students engage with real-world business contexts, supported by a 30-week postgraduate professional placement. Students who meet the academic requirements are responsible for securing their own placement, with structured guidance and support provided by the Future Success and Employability Team.

The two-year structure is divided into academic and practical components. The first year focuses on core academic modules, while the second year emphasises the application of knowledge through a professional placement, alongside the development of a reflective portfolio. The final semester also includes modules in Strategic Management Research and Financial Principles and Practice.

Students enrolled on the programme have access to a range of university resources, including the virtual learning environment, StudyNet, which offers access to course materials, peer collaboration, and an extensive collection of e-books and e-journals.

The programme also offers participation in the Young Enterprise Start-Up Programme, delivered in partnership with a leading UK enterprise education charity. Through this initiative, students collaborate in teams to establish and manage real businesses, taking on director-level responsibilities and participating in national and European competitions. This experience is designed to enhance practical skills in innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Teaching is delivered by research-active academic staff with extensive professional experience. Many are engaged in consultancy and advisory roles with major organisations, including FTSE-listed companies, global health institutions, and innovation-focused enterprises, ensuring that teaching is informed by current industry practice.
