Program Description

If you hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help you gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of York. Your course length is determined mainly by your English language level (UKVI IELTS score).

Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If your course is longer than 2 terms, you’ll take additional modules designed to improve one or more of your English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.

Master of Arts - Culture, Society and Globalisation

Discover how societies and cultures across the world are becoming increasingly connected.

On this course, students will learn how people are shaped by their nationality, gender and ethnicity and explore the global effects of culture transformation.

They'll look into how social media impacts society on a global scale, and what this means for people's lives and identities.

Students will also develop advanced research skills to help them design studies, interpret findings and critically evaluate data.
