Master of Arts - Social Media Communications and Artificial Intelligence

专业介绍

The MA Social Media Communications and Artificial Intelligence programme is designed to develop advanced knowledge and a critical, ethical, and practical understanding of communication in the context of emerging AI-driven technologies. The course explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping social, cultural, and industry practices, equipping students with the ability to design, produce, and evaluate AI-mediated social media strategies and creative content. Emphasis is placed on working within ethical and legal frameworks, ensuring that graduates are prepared for the evolving demands of the communications sector.

The programme combines theoretical insight with practical application, enabling students to engage critically with contemporary communication debates while developing hands-on professional skills. Students gain experience in AI-supported content creation, audience engagement, and data-informed decision-making, alongside building expertise in digital strategy. The course is tailored for those seeking to work strategically with emerging technologies, rather than simply use them, and offers flexibility through pathways that include advanced research or extended professional practice, with opportunities for a 30-week industry placement.

Teaching is delivered through workshops, seminars, tutorials, and independent study, with a strong focus on research-informed practice. Students explore key communication theories, digital media practices, and the ethical and philosophical implications of AI, while developing technical skills to produce content and design campaigns. Assessment is entirely coursework-based and includes essays, reports, presentations, and practical media projects. The programme culminates in either a dissertation or a career development portfolio, enabling students to align their final work with their academic interests or professional ambitions.
